Do you like being an elementary school teacher?
I'm a college freshman majoring in early childhood education and minoring in Spanish. I plan to teach either 1st, 2nd, or 3rd grade. I have dreamed of being a teacher ever since I was in 2nd grade. However, ever since I started college I have learned how challenging the job is, how many hours teachers actually work each day, and how low the salary is. Now I'm a bit skeptical. Should I still pursue my childhood dream of being an elementary school teacher? Are you glad you decided to become one? Also, if you can answer these questions, that would be great! 1. Would I be able to teach 1st, 2nd, and 3rd grade with a degree in early childhood education? I've heard from some sources that ECE only goes up to 2nd grade, but others have told me 3rd grade. (I live in Illinois.) 2. What is your typical day like? How much time do you spend outside of teaching doing other work-related tasks? What are these tasks? 3. Why is the typical teacher's salary, and how easy is it to find a job? (I plan to started teaching the fall after I graduate college.) 4. What are some things I can do now to help prepare myself for being a teacher and making myself more marketable? Any other advice would be extremely helpful! Thanks so much in advance! :)What do you think of this teacher?
I have Spanish II in 8th grade, so I'm a year ahead of the average. I got a spanish teacher who used to work for the elementary school. I have her for 56 minutes some days and 80 other days. She can speak English, however her accent is so strong I cannot understand her. She gives us one worksheet for the whole class, then sits at her computer for the rest. If we talk we get a detention. She gave me a C even though I got great grades on my work. When I asked her about this, she said to see her after class, but then she said she was busy. I wrote a letter to the office, and they said they'll be investigating.I teach English to spanish students,I need grammar exercises to print!!?
